Butter Chicken

Warm, fragrant, and full of flavor. This quick chicken curry gets its depth from our Chicken Bone Broth, Chismosa, and a blend of spices that make every bite feel cozy. Perfect for when you’re craving something comforting but still light.

Ingredients (Serves 2–4)


To season the chicken:

  • 1 whole chicken breast, diced
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp salt

For the curry:

  • 1 sachet of our Chicken Bone Broth, CHISMOSA
  • 2 tbsp ghee, butter, or coconut oil
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or grated
  • ½ tbsp fresh ginger, minced or grated
  • ½ tbsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup tomato purée (or crushed tomatoes)
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt or coconut cream
  • Cilantro and extra yogurt or coconut cream, to serve


Instructions


 1. Season the chicken: In a small bowl, mix the spices for the chicken. Dice the chicken breast and toss with the seasoning mix.
 2. Build the base: In a large pan, melt the ghee over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and cook until soft and fragrant. Add the garam masala, cumin seeds, and turmeric. Stir well and cook for 1 minute.
 3. Make the sauce: Add tomato purée, CHISMOSA, and water. Stir and let simmer for 4 minutes.
 4. Add the chicken: Add the seasoned chicken to the sauce and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
 5. Finish and serve: Turn off the heat and stir in yogurt or coconut cream. Serve with chopped cilantro, extra yogurt or cream, and a side of basmati rice or naan.


✨ Tip: This curry tastes even better the next day, once the flavors have had time to deepen.
